Merit Laboratories started as an idea over 35 years ago by two scientists committed to scientific excellence. Michael Goergen and Violetta Murshak, Ph.D., believed that there was a need for an environmental testing laboratory in Michigan that provided accurate analytical results at the highest level of client service.  Uncompromising in these beliefs, they launched the laboratory with an optimistic fervor for excellence. Through hard work, a dedicated team of talented scientists, and an investment in state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation, Merit has grown to become one of the premier independent environmental laboratories in the United States.
